General Partner
Insik is General Partner at VVUS and a former serial entrepreneur and advisor to inception-stage enterprise technology companies. At VVUS, he partners with very early-stage founders, typically pre-revenue, to help build their companies, scale their products, and hire their executive teams.
Prior to starting VVUS in 2015, Insik served as General Partner at Rembrandt Venture Partners where he led investments in A Bit Lucky (acquired by Zynga), CloudOn (acquired by Dropbox), and Ooyala (acquired by Telstra). He was also a Venture Partner at Accel Partners, where he advised early-stage investments in Cloudera, Couchbase, and Facebook.
He founded his first startup Kiva Software at the age of 24. Kiva created the Application Server market and powered first-generation internet sites for companies such as E*Trade, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo. Netscape acquired Kiva in 1997. With his second startup Loudcloud (later renamed Opsware), Insik helped usher in the cloud computing era and jumpstarted the data center automation software category. Loudcloud IPO’ed in 2001 and was acquired by HP in 2007.
He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley and serves on the Executive Advisory Board for the College of Engineering.
